Rooted in Wuthnow’s insight, this first Symposium’s focus on —“Philanthropy and Civic Engagement: Imagining Faith through Practice” is designed to foster and disseminate groundbreaking research, from a global perspective, on the intersection of the role of philanthropy and the other activities of Muslims as faith-based actors committed to fostering ethics and practices which encourage other citizens to engage in civic activities and modes of participatory governance.
Papers in the form of first drafts are due by no later than April 15, 2016. The eight selected papers will be awarded a $1000 travel fellowship to present the paper at the Symposium. After the symposium, presenters will be given one month for revisions before they will be required to submit them for peer review and possible publication in the Journal.
